The subtitle is, the job still isn't complete. No one showed up the following Monday, but on Tuesday, the GC was back to start on what we hoped would be the final week of work. One of the primary tasks remaining was installation of our backsplash, another process that will result in lots of cleaning.

The Backsplash Installation Begins

We picked out a herringbone pattern, Greecian White Herringbone, and Platinum Grout. I was working from home when the installation was happening so I happened to walk out to see the progress while they were on lunch. I was really glad I did, because when I sent the picture below to Amy, she was surprised to see that it was oriented that way.

By the end of Tuesday, there wasn't much progress on the backsplash.

More Backsplash and Some Lighting

Wednesday, much more progress on the backsplash was made and one of the pendant lights we chose was up. Once installed, they'll use these Hue Filament lights so we have a full Hue install in the kitchen.

Grout and Cabinet Hardware

Thursday, the grout was finished, the remaining pendant lights were installed, and cabinet hardware install began.

End of Week - Almost Complete

The rest of the week was spent on a number of fit and finish items. After Cabinet Hardware install, the fit and finish list increased, because a number of the pulls don't line up or are crooked. I'm already anxious about what that means to get it right, because I'm having a hard time imagining how they do that without damaging the cabinets/drawers or ordering new ones (at their expense, mind you).

The following week, my favorite tech installer, Mike Haas with Digital Plus LLC, will be out to hang a tv and rear surrounds. More on the tech setup in the next post.
