In Framing Up Next Steps – Our First Major Remodel, I mentioned that we needed to have a structural engineer come out. She reviewed the plans and current state of things. Her focus was this space on the other side of the beam in the living room.

Installing the Header

After getting the drawings and recommendation, the team got to work implementing the plan. Now you can really envision what the space will be like. Looking into the kitchen you can see how the team framed up the support. The space will be so much more open.

Cleaning Up the Electrical

The next work day started the process of unraveling the electrical mess the previous owners left us with. The ceiling fan and random selection of lights have been removed. Can lights will run the length of the kitchen. Pendant lights will go above the counter that extends into the living room and looks over the stove.

When work resumes, the electrical work should be complete and we'll hopefully be ready for inspection, with drywall hanging in our very near future.

That's where we are going into the Labor Day holiday weekend, so close to inspection.
